funky music

In case you lost track or wonder what to do in the midst of a long weekend, now is a great time to remind you that we’ll be at the Funk ‘n Dive ($5, 21+) tonight, Saturday 5/24/25, playing music from 9:00p – midnight — and hanging out before, so come say hi! And the following weekend we head back to Grand America and Two Bit. Take a look at the calendar and start planning your summer.

And, in case you missed it, here’s our full set from Van Sessions last month, with individual live tracks pasted into this handy playlist:

Watch and share with friends, family, and strangers. We don’t mind if you flood the internet with our music. And while you’re at it, support our friends at Van Sessions who make these amazing productions and lift up our local music community.

Van Sessions releases this week

Tracks from our session in the van (or just outside of it) with The Banyan Collective‘s Van Sessions are dropping this week, one at a time, each at 7:00 PM on the Van’s YouTube Channel along with teaser reels on their Instagram channel. The full episode caps it off on Saturday (for Adam’s birthday or by complete coincidence, it’s hard to say).

Here’s the first, released last night: a Sunday kind of love on a Monday night, exactly the juxtaposition we embrace!

Coming up this week: two originals (yup! who knew?) and two more covers that we hope you’ll help us spread around the world, or at least put on repeat in your earbuds.

Special thanks to Brandon and Todd and all of the production team of Van Sessions, with an extra shout out to Scott Rogers at The Proper Way for mixing our sound in their studio. These are people who make the Ogden music community so great and genuinely welcoming. You can share the love by supporting them and live local music from all corners, most especially in the Monarch on the first Friday of every month.

See you online and in person again at the end of the month!

message from the Van

Last month we sat in with Brandon and Todd for Van Sessions, a podcast featuring live music on First Friday at the Monarch in Ogden. We played an extended set for them that is being released one song at a time this week, culminating with the full video podcast this weekend. Message in a Bottle is the first track to drop. Audio mixing by Scott Rogers of The Proper Way is great, but also it’s extra fun to see the video swap views and pans. Brandon, Todd, and their crew make it look easy, but we know it isn’t.

Tune in here on YouTube each day this week for more! We don’t know what they’ll pick from our set, since we played more than they can pick from to span the days of the week. (Okay, now we see what they ordered and is in the queue, but we can still act surprised as they come out.) You can also follow our Van Session friends here on Instagram or Facebook for updates! Or just check out their webpage, the old fashioned way.

Enjoy! Looking forward to seeing all of these this week, and looking forward to returning to the Van next summer. And stay tuned! Soon we’ll see people live at the Grand America, Gandy Dancer, and Lighthouse Lounge.

light(house) at the end of the week

It’s a good week for S&S music.

First, we’re so delighted with what Van Sessions captured and released as individual tracks and videos of our live performance with them at The Monarch at the beginning of the month. Take a look and play these on repeat at our music page or directly at this YouTube playlist, and then tune in as the full episode of that live podcast recording goes live on Friday.

And THEN, come see us live, in person, for multiple hours, late into the night, at Lighthouse Lounge in Ogden on Saturday (9/24/22) from 9:00p to Midnight ($5, 21+). Past our bedtime but worth it.

August shows

We had a great time in July, playing the Layton Amphitheater for the Davis Arts Sunday concert series, a couple of private events, and a full patio at UTOG.

Summer has one last gasp of shows including:

And, practically in August, look forward to Van Sessions on Friday, Sept. 2.

And, you really ought to look into tickets for Ogden Nature Center’s Wildwoods Bash on Sept. 9 before they sell out, since it’s a really good cause and a great time AND your favorite band is playing. (No, NOT The Proper Way! It’s us!!)

Check out our gigs calendar for all the latest.
