thanksgiving break

We just had 3 gigs over 3 weekends, a concentrated calendar for us, and now we have a break to work on a glimmer of a project we’ve had in mind, a few rehearsals, maybe coil some cables properly. We get to go out on a band-date tonight and enjoy Postmodern Jukebox. They didn’t ask us to open for them, which is just as well because we can just enjoy the show from the balcony this way.

We don’t have anything public on our calendar until December 29th, a return to Lighthouse Lounge, followed by another return to the Grand America in January and a series of monthly gigs at Gandy Dancer again in January, February, and March. We’ll put out reminders of these and anything else that gets scheduled.

For now, here’s a quick sample of what it sounded like at Grand America last week. We just worked this one up:

Grateful and celebratory holidays to everyone! We’ll see you out on the scene soon.

return to grand

Three weekends, three big outings.

We’re back at Grand America Lobby Lounge on Friday night (Nov. 10) from 7-10PM. We really felt the groove there last time, so join us on a comfy couch with a fancy drink and enjoy a few minutes or a few hours.

We keep it classy at the Lounge, digging deeper into the jazz standards … until we don’t. If someone calls out for our cover of No Scrubs by TLC, who are we to deny you?

gandy dancing

We didn’t realize just how long it’s been until we went back to our gig calendar, but we’re finally returning to the Gandy Dancer this Saturday, November 4th from 6:00 to 8:00pm. So many of our gigs are in dark places after hours with cover charges and age restrictions, but at the Gandy we are hosted on a stage while it’s still light out, and no one has to be out past bedtime. Also, this place is filled with joy, a rotating menu of soups and sandwiches, great ice cream, AND warm welcoming of all ages. We love the support of local musicians at Gandy Dancer and we’re excited to be back. Finally! See you there!

grand outings

We’re coming out of a mini-break, ramping up for 3 weekends of gigs, starting with a return to the Grand America Lobby Lounge this Friday night (October 27), 7-10p. Yes, in the big city of Salt Lake! Come hang out, have a snack and a drink, and listen as we center ourselves within the grandeur as the sun sets on the courtyard fountain behind us. Maybe we’ll even sneak over to the grand piano in the corner if we play it cool.

Upcoming beyond that: Our first return to Gandy Dancer in too many months is on Saturday, Nov. 4, from 6-8p. And then we’ll be back in the Grand Lobby Lounge on Friday, Nov. 10.

Hope to see you out soon! In the meantime, here’s another of our tracks from the now fully released Van Sessions episode:

Adam is here, too. He’s just off in the dark corner where keyboard players belong.

message from the Van

Last month we sat in with Brandon and Todd for Van Sessions, a podcast featuring live music on First Friday at the Monarch in Ogden. We played an extended set for them that is being released one song at a time this week, culminating with the full video podcast this weekend. Message in a Bottle is the first track to drop. Audio mixing by Scott Rogers of The Proper Way is great, but also it’s extra fun to see the video swap views and pans. Brandon, Todd, and their crew make it look easy, but we know it isn’t.

Tune in here on YouTube each day this week for more! We don’t know what they’ll pick from our set, since we played more than they can pick from to span the days of the week. (Okay, now we see what they ordered and is in the queue, but we can still act surprised as they come out.) You can also follow our Van Session friends here on Instagram or Facebook for updates! Or just check out their webpage, the old fashioned way.

Enjoy! Looking forward to seeing all of these this week, and looking forward to returning to the Van next summer. And stay tuned! Soon we’ll see people live at the Grand America, Gandy Dancer, and Lighthouse Lounge.
